Text 2 Aug Lomography’s New Petzval

The original Petzval lens was invented in 1840 and is one of the very first and greatest lenses of all time; by supporting us on Kickstarter, you can help us reinvent this fantastic lens for Canon EF and Nikon F (D)SLR mount cameras in the 21st century. With the Lomography Petzval Portrait Lens, for the first time ever you can easily get the unique Petzval photographic look with 35mm analogue cameras and DSLR cameras. You can even shoot Petzval movies using DSLR cameras!

The Distinctive Lens Effect

Photos shot with a Petzval lens are immediately recognizable for their super-sharp focus areas and wonderful swirly bokeh effect at the non-focused areas. Expect strong color saturation, artful vignettes and narrow depth of field.

An Engineering Breakthrough

The New Lomography Petzval Lenses will be manufactured by a team of optics specialists at the Zenit factory in Russia. They are built from brass and feature premium glass optics. We already have a first working sample of the new Petzval Lens and are very excited by the results. However, we need your support so that we can finalize the lens design and fund the first production of new lenses. Let’s bring back this incredible art lens for a whole new generation of photographers and filmmakers in the 21st century!
